Give your child the care and attention they deserve. Good advice early on with an understanding professional team is essential for our little people! Good habits start young.

  • Drill-free options for cavities using the ‘Hall technique’
  • Preventative care with fluoride and fluoride-free options, fissure sealants, brushing advice.
  • Space maintainers for teeth extracted due to cavities.
  • Early orthodontic options using modern techniques
  • Watch their favourite program on the TV on the ceiling!

No drilling approach (Hall technique)

Named ‘Twinkly teeth’, these are placed over decayed milk teeth. The advantages are no injections and no drilling. The milk tooth can then guide the permanent tooth, and extractions or general anaesthetics are often avoided.

The alternative is a regular white filling. Anaesthetic is given with a digital ‘wand’ which is very comfortable for kids.

“Thank you so much Lizzie… with the television and the wand, Max (7 years) didn’t even know he had an anaesthetic!!” Sarah 2019

Space maintainers

Looking after developing teeth is essential, so get the best advice. If a milk tooth is removed it is vital that the space be held open to allow the adult tooth to come through. Without space maintenance for children the adult tooth can become impacted. A space maintainer is easily bonded into place, at any age. It can save surgery or extractions later on.

Oral Hygiene instruction

Good habits start young and good brushing techniques needs to be learned. This is carried out during exams and our hygienist has dedicated appointments available.

Fluoride Treatment

This is a treatment which can be applied to either baby teeth or adult teeth, and works by painting a varnish over the surface of your little one’s teeth every six months to protect them from decay. We know that children love sweets, and sometimes even regular brushing won’t be enough to stop a cavity, which can add unnecessary pressure and create an anxiety about dentists from a young age.

Protecting tooth enamel and making it more resistant to decay is a great way to minimise risks of any procedures being needed at a young age. We often recommend this treatment for hypomineralisation (cream, yellow or brown spots on teeth) and conditions such as MIH (molar incisal hypomineralisation).

Fissure Sealants

Once your child’s permanent back teeth have come through, they will be eligible for fissure sealant treatment. This is another form of preventative dentistry to avoid decay whilst their teeth are developing and help them enjoy their young years without worrying about fillings.

The chewing surfaces are covered with thin plastic to keep food and germs out of the grooves in their back teeth and can last up to ten years.

Children’s Orthodontics

Our modern approach to children’s dental care involves orthodontic screening from 5 years old. Children’s orthodontic page. If you see your first adult teeth growing wonky, book an exam with us now. This is best treated when milk teeth are still present. childrens-airways

‘Don’t ignore the snore’

Are you concerned about your child mouthbreathing, tooth grinding, snoring or having poor sleep quality? As dentists we screen for airways problems in children. These can easily go undetected and can have a huge impact on crooked teeth, behaviour, concentration, grades at school, sleep quality, even bedwetting. Coordination with ENT consultants is sometimes required.
